I am disgusted that this author used a true murder as the backdrop of her story. Rebecca Zahau was killed in the same way, under the same circumstances, and there wasn’t even a disclaimer added that this might be similar to a real story but some details were changed. This may re-victimize her friends and family, due to the horrific nature of the crime. I knew the instant I was reading it exactly where I had heard it before, and it made me sick to my stomach. I think it is classless and in poor taste to capitalize on her murder. If you don’t know how similar these stores are, look it up. I will no longer support this author. Do not buy this book if you have not read the first two Emma Griffin books, because without knowing what happened in the prior two novels, book #3 will not make any sense. This was my first, and last, book by A. J. Rivers, and I regret the time I spent reading this nonsense. The ongoing events are jarred by constantly switching between different times in the past and the present. All these different ongoings can make your head spin. All the characters are 2-dimensional, and unlikeable. The sheriff, with his FBI agent girlfriend in tow, are a pathetic pair. But the ending is the worst of all: There is no closure or explanation to what was going on throughout the book. I can only classify this book as trash.
